Conservation and self-enhancement values: these people are more likely to be conviction prone and more likely to favour capital punishment. Since we don"t have capital punishment in canada it can translate t harsher punishments. You"ve got the prosecution and the defense looking for jurors with different kinds of values, you want a balance. You don"t want people who go into the courtroom who already have an ideal in mind, what verdict they plan to make. Death qualified jurors: not relevant in canada or most of europe, but places like america, where capital punishment is legal. If you are looking for jurors in a trial where a potential sentence would be death there would be a great reluctance on the whole jury system he is opposed to the death penalty.
