Document Summary

Victims (and offenders) are removed from the process. Does not encourage taking responsibility: apologizing can incur greater punishment: traditionally victims were not included in the process, they were understood to be biased, they"re not going to render a fair judgement. So to remove bias you remove victims, also for their protection. It"s not intended to mess things up, intended to fix the problem instead. Victims will say being removed from the process makes it difficult for them to have closure. : could be people in the network, in the community who have experienced some harm. You have to ask the question broadly in order to restore the relationships, to fix the harm. : if you"ve been harmed how do we go about correcting that harm. For a lot of us if we"ve been hurt, we have goals in mind in order to make things better, make outcomes fair.
