Document Summary

Asch"s gestalt model of person perception: the whole is not equal to the sum of its parts. Thought that you brought those traits together using gestalt principles. Study: present people with a bunch of different traits and then tell them to imagine. Interested in how people bring together the different impressions they have of a person. According to asch, this shows that people form gestalts of each other. There are six basic facial expressions recognized across the world: happy, angry, sad, surprise, disgust, fear. Most people struggle to understand body language and most people do not use it effectively and this indicates that the person is lying. Plays a critical role in the detection of deception. Typically, when someone is lying, information leaks through the non-verbal channels. Micro facial expressions show inappropriate emotion but the situation has to be high stakes and you must eliminate regular body language. We make attributions to predict the world.
