It maintains homeostasis in the gastrointestinal processes such as digestion: neuropeptides: function as neurotransmitters and moderate biological processes within the ens and the central nervous system. Neuropeptides have the ability to directly or indirectly influence a variety of hormones and neurotransmitters.
