Looking at this in an organization setting (and the nature of the organization) looks at both individual and group dynamics: fundamental assumption: people matter, applied field: from soc. , anthro. , psych. , management, polis ci, economics. Organization: social invention (made up of people) for accomplishing common goals through group effort. Survival is a fundamental goal and often profit. Management: the art of getting things accomplished in organizations through others. Try to encourage effective behaviours to meet goals. Management roles: interpersonal (establishing and maintaining relationships), informational, and decision making. Technology automates work, simplifies work and allows less people to do more work. Automated cars= many people out of work and will have huge implications, both good and bad. Outsourcing: ship tasks out to someone else . often leads to offshoring to a cheaper labour market as a way of cutting costs. More interconnected work, huge increase in exports.
