Lighting: is an item we tend to take for granted, unless in a horror film (usually dark) lighting can be used to tell the story, it can show you to a character, or withheld light, shadows for suspense. Cast: an object casting a shadow onto another object. Attached: we see what"s casting the shadow, attached: quality: hard, soft, direction, source, colour. Direction: frontal lighting, side lighting, backlighting, under lighting, top lighting. Artificial light can have different qualities, neon makes green, studio light can be close to white but bluer. Key light; main source of light, creates strong shadows. Fill light: fills in shadows created by key light. High key lighting=low contrast between light and dark areas (used for comedies, musicals) Low key lighting=high contrast between light and dark areas (used for mysteries, horror films)
