Generativity = meaning from nurturing the next generation and caring for others through their work. Stagnation = feel stagnant if not ful lled, where no reason to help future generation. Challenges of balancing family responsibilities in middle adulthood. Marital - grandchildren - adult children - aging parents. Intergenerational sodality = middle-aged adults feeling of loving obligation to both the older and the younger generations. Sandwich generation = a nancial and emotional squeeze around the age of 50-60. Help children pay for college or start their careers. Changes in memory abilities that occur in later life.
