Bio 121 Sept 11, 2012 Biomes  Geographic areas held together by a common plant community  Divide the world into expected elements  Almost all have become extinct due to human invasion Deserts: occurs around +/-30 degrees from the equator - Sanhara - Sanora - African Desert Plants - Cactus - Euphorbia (same family as Poinsettia) Independent group from cactus - Epiphytic plants live off or on top of plants - Mistle toe is epiphyte  Tropical Rainforest: found across equator - Lots of rain majority of the year - Very high biodiversity - Very three dimensional  The root like things on the bottom of the rainforest trees is called Buttressed. They support the tree because of lots of water in the soil challenging the roots. Soil can hold lots of water. Distribution of rainfall and temperature: Ex.
