BIOL 260 Lecture Notes - Lecture 8: Cytokinin, Seed Dormancy, Auxin
Document Summary
*gibberlins promotes amylase while aba inhibits it= seed dormancy. Slide 105 experiment= partition splits the two sides of root. Control is hydrated full out while the experimental has closed stomata even tho there"s enough water for both plants and same water potential. However, roots growing in dry dirt signals aba via diffusion to the stem and force stomatal closure (travels via psylem) Slide 106 protons (positive charge) out and chloride in= open stomata= more negative slide 108. Add aba= more resistant to closing stomata at sign of drought. Leaf senescence= change of leaf colours (changes in pigment+ selective removal of chlorophyll) Allows cell cycle to complete, without it they cant finish cell cycle. Read absorption spectrum (chlorophyll absorbs in blue and red spectrum) Callus is undifferentiated, exposed to different ratios of auxin/cytokinin= very different tissues (callus, roots, shoots) don"t need to know ratios. High auxin inhibits root growth but cytokinin is main focus.
