Document Summary
Ouranos): kyklopes: brontes, steropes, arges, zeus" main weapons, were forged by all three kyklopes, in that arges added brightness, Brontes added thunder, and steropes: hekatonkheires (100 hands, 50 heads): kottos, briareos, gyges (all strong), ouranos concealed them all in tartarus, far away below the earth. Gaia was infuriated of ouranos" doings, hence kronos cut off ouranos" genitals when he desired sex. However, the blood of ouranos apparently impregnated gaia and gave birth to: erinyes: three goddesses of vengeance and retribution who punished men for crimes, gigantes: tribe of a hundred giants, the meliai: ash-tree nymphs. As ouranos" genitals fell into the sea of kythereia, white-foam formed and aphrodite (goddess of love) emerged from it. Eros (god of love) is aphrodite"s companion. Rheia and kronos gave birth to six children (in order): hestia, hades, demeter, poseidon, hera, zeus. Kronos kept eating all their offspring, intending to prevent none of them to gain dominance.
