Unlike fiction, a script is a document used to create something else: a performance. A complete art form, delivered to you, ready to be consumed a lot of additional steps that need to happen before consumption. So you are not writing with all the same considerations as when you write a novel or short story. However, you still want tension and conflict when writing a play.
