Document Summary

Thesis: argue the christian metz can achieve all of his intended results more effectively by restricting himself to epistemically claims about the cinema and not making any direct ontological claims. He think that cinema become s language through narrative. Placing several images together, and reads its intention and reading several images becomes. Through a narrative we understand what narrative is doing. Language system - doesn"t think it fits with this system rather as an art. Cinema is starting at this level of poetry. A way to define the language of art. Cinema is open, its level is discourse, has many components within it, work together. Not work in language systems because they are closed, you cant have both syntax working at the same time. But since they are not system, they are more open so all things can work together in film. Lack of double articulation - cinema is working at the epistemological level.
