Document Summary

Skepticism or critically evaluating knowledge claims requires an analysis of validity. It is important to note that a single research study will never achieve absolute (100%) validity/truth; validity is a matter of degree. On the other hand, it is appropriate to say that some studies have a higher degree of validity than others. (you are never going to get 100% validity with something) Internal validity: are the results of the study valid? the idea is that is can be increased with random assignment. Based on the actual data you have, you have actual answers to questions and you are calculating the results the actual results are where the objectivity are possible. External validity: is the generalization of the results to others valid? the idea then is that it can be increased with random selection. This criterion demands that you are able to demonstrate that there is a relationship between the variables in your research question.
