Makes use of spatial analysis and scientific method --> uses an informed and critical scientific approach to correctly interpret facts in the media. Atmosphere: this sphere forms the outer envelope of the earth. The body of gasses that surround our planet. The presence of water is integral to the weather. Biosphere: the life layer of the earth, all organisms. Where matter achieves densities intermediate between water and air --> so it balances out. Lithosphere: the rigid part of the earth --> the crust. System: an ordered and interrelated set, which is linked by flows of energy and matter. Open system: a system that transfers both matter + energy across it"s boundary in the surrounding environment, i. e. ecosystems like leaves. Closed system: a system that only transfers energy across it"s boundary in the surrounding environment, i. e. planet.
