Thunderstorm: an intense convective storm associated with tall, dense cumulonimbus clouds with very strong updrafts. Latent heat fuels the convection process and drives the parcel higher. The hotter the air parcel, the lighter they are. Microburst: an intense downdraft from a thunderstorm, lasting from seconds to minutes . Weather - the state of the atmosphere at a given time and place, with respect to variables such as temperature, moisture, wind velocity, and barometric pressure. Meteorology - science of the atmosphere, particularly the physics of short-term fluctuations that occur in the lower atmosphere.
