Coal is the fossilized remains of trees and plants that grew 290-360 million years ago (cid:894)the (cid:862)ca(cid:396)(cid:271)o(cid:374)ife(cid:396)ous pe(cid:396)iod(cid:863)(cid:895). Coal = dead plants + no oxygen + time + pressure. People have used coal since ancient times, but use was limited.
