Some endocrinologists will have pt call at certain times of the week. A1c 7. 0% for most people with diabetes. A1c 6. 5% for some people with t2dm. A1c 7. 1-8. 5% in people with specific features. Adjusting insulin dose: look for patterns of blood sugars that are outside of target range at the same time of the day for at least 2-3 days, decide which insulin needs adjusting. This will be the one that has the most effect at the time of day when blood sugars are too high or too low. Change only one insulin dose at a time: adjust for low blood sugars first.
