Education re: safer use of sterile syringes/needles and other applicable substance use equipment. Access to sterile syringes, needles, and other supplies. Program through bccdc since 2012 to provide naloxone kits (free of charge) to the general public. Kits available to people at risk of an opioid overdose or those likely to witness and respond to an overdose. Can be found at many clinics, hospitals, and community pharmacies. Withdrawal management alone, without transition to opioid agonist treatment or ongoing addiction care, is not recommended . Includes patients who have completed withdrawal management and/or those not currently using opioids but at risk of relapse. Includes patients who use alcohol, benzodiazepines, and other substances (prescribed and non-prescribed) Doses can be titrated by 5-10 mg every 5 days. Sometimes increase more rapidly in inpatient setting with experienced provider. Inpatient can utilize prn doses to help with titration. Doses 80 mg/d appear to have optimal treatment outcomes.
