Document Summary

In our current system, less of the popular vote can give 100% of the power to the pm the election. Percentage of the seats in parliament=percentage of votes that party got in. Example, current liberals would have 40% of the seats in parliament. Lowers instances of majority governments, increases coalitions (both a permanent and case-by-case basis) Pr would be disadvantage to parties that currently win power, advantage to smaller parties (e. g. , green) Not electing a single person to be our representative, we"re voting for a party. Party has influence in who sits in parliament. Gives a lot of power to small parties, some see this as a concern. Some countries have implemented a threshold (say 5%), before parties can have its members in parliament. The public does not have one member to talk to about a concern, they are now forced to go to the party in general, which can be a tedious process.
