Document Summary

Study of a subset of people to make statements about all similar individual interests. Be able to collect statistics about a sample/subset of people. Determine if statistics of a sample relate to the larger population. Determine a mean average to compare individuals with the average of everyone. Median: middle value: 50% fall below, 50% fall above the middle. Mode: most frequent observation for a data set. Outliers: unusual observations that are not typical within the data set. Range: difference between the max and min values. Standard deviation measure of the dispersion from the mean. Correlation vs causation: two variables may be linked, but not necessarily negatively or positively affect each other. More people within the sample, more likely there is links to the larger population. Within groups, there is variability (high variability reduced potential difference between groups)
