There were a number of serious problems with the historical tests such as standford-binet and army alpha: content areas: theses tests would measure things such as. Social norms and other skills that people may learn (confusing achievement with aptitude: not for everyone , not-standardized. You can only get this through massive testing of many different people: 2) a way to meaningfully determine how each score compares to the broader population. To standardized a test we need: a standard unit (ex. Like one meter : to give it to thousands of people so we can have a baseline of performance and an understanding of how many different people do on the same questions. Intelligence quotient (iq): the standard unit of intelligence, where 100 is the typical, average score; values below 100 imply less intelligent and those above 100 imply more intelligence.
