PSYC 308 Lecture Notes - Lecture 8: Error Detection And Correction, Limbic System, Prefrontal Cortex
Document Summary
Able to track neural activities in your brain as a person perform a task. When we engage in certain tasks, certain brain areas are activated and require more energy, thus neurons are firing at a faster speed. Take the difference between the magnet signature before a task, during a task, and after a task. Can trask which brain region is using more oxygen. Ended up with a bunch of image and allow for comparison. As neurons are firing, give off an electrical signals to the scalp, then able. Stick electrodes on one"s head and these are able to detect the signals as this person complete a task. Can pinpoint whether the wave in the brain region matches with the time they do the task. Can identify specific brain region during the task. Time-consuming because it takes about 2 hours per task. Not able to pinpoint exact location, especially if it"s deep in the brain.
