All preschools aim to shape the children into appropriate members of their society. Poor quality of parenting + poor quality of childcare = insecure attachment. Some studies show being in childcare increases behavioural problems, some shows the opposite, some says it depends on how you measure it. High quality of childcare = less behaviour problem. Teach the children how to behave socially adequate. Child-care center relates to more behavioral problem. Children in low ses can benefit from child care. It ameliorate some of the risk associated with ses. Low quality associated with low cognitive and lower language skills. Centre-based has more peers and richer linguistic environment. Asks how childcare arrangement is related to child outcome. Whether the effect persist beyond preschool (from 4. 5 through grade 6) Examine quality, quantity, and type of care. Measure parenting quality and other relevant variables. Measure other factors such as after school program after the children leave child-care. Center based care = more behaviour problems.
