Document Summary
How to fail" in school without really trying: queering pathways to success pedagogy, culture. Queer and trans* students used alternative routes to leave secondary school. These paths were framed by time and policies. Accessing ged (general equivalency diploma), got racialized queer and trans* students out of mainstream high schools. Accessing dual credit programs got white affluent queer and trans* students out of mainstream high schools and into post-secondary schools sooner. Both approaches are/can be seen as a failure to succeed in mainstream education. Most of the electives are taught by female teachers. In our highschool, all the math teachers were male (people always say men are more logical and more intelligent in that department) Sex ed information that is taught are segregated. Uniforms girls wear skirts, and guys wore pants. Girls are more exposed wear skirts while guys wear long pants.
