Turning to other ways of producing wealth: turning to commercialized agriculture, landlords evicted the people(freeing the people from the land) Egalitarianism: modern society is not mobile because it is egalitarian; it is egalitarian because it is mobile. Moreover, it has to be mobile whether it wishes to be so or not, because this is required by the satisfaction of its terrible and overwhelming thirst for economic growth. Massive shift of european people off the land = immigrants to other countries: because they couldn"t find work.
