Criminals make decisions that they think will help them achieve their own personal needs. Decisions an offender is making to be involved in crime. What are the costs and benefits, the challenges. Focus on the opportunities to commit crimes. Address those opportunities in order to prevent crime. The routine things that we do every day that creates opportunity for crime: motivated offender, suitable target. Money, drugs, alcohol, tv: absence of guardianship. The victim is responsible for the act that occurred. Victim allowed the absence of guardianship which allowed the offender to commit the criminal act. Home-maker, stayed at home and raised children. Women cannot commit crime when they spend all their time at home cooking, cleaning and raising babies. When opportunities in the social world and workplace are opened up for women, crime rates will increase. Males know what is best for women. Women need to be protected or rescued. Applying stereotypes of women from a male perspective.
