Social responsibility of researchers as producers of knowledge (also citizens as consumers of knowledge) Validity means that we"re measuring what we want to measure: convergent and divergent validation. Reliability means that repeated observations of the same phenomenon should yield the same results: test-retest and inter-rater reliability. Epistemology is a fancy word for way of knowing . Some people have suggested that there are 4 ways of knowing including authority, intuition, logic, and observation.
