It can include a variety of approaches, such as one-way communication or information delivery, consultation, involvement and collaboration in decision-making, and empowered action in informal groups or formal partnerships. (source: department of environment and primary industries, 2013) Community engagement can be defined as people working collaboratively, through inspired action and learning, to create and realize bold visions for their common future . Engagement is more than just bringing people together to share their thoughts and ideas. It is about connectedness and collaboration as a village. There are a variety of different ways that community engagement is described in academic settings. Some call it community engaged learning or community. Service-learning , and still others call it volunteerism or internship . All of these terms fall under the broader term community engagement .
