Document Summary

Dyssomnias involve difficulties in getting enough sleep, problems with sleeping when you want to sleep, and complains about the qualities of sleep. Parasomnias are characterized by abnormal behavioural or psychological events that occur during sleep, such as nightmares and sleepwalking. Have trouble falling asleep, if they wake up frequently or too early and can"t go back to sleep, or even sleep a reasonable number of hours but still are not rested the next day (nonrestorative sleep) Poor sleep hygiene can also affect biological factors. Rebound insomnia: taking over the counter medication can temporarily help sleep, but once off the medication, the individual"s problems return and they think they have a sleep problem, and develop a dependency on the sleeping pills. Many people who sleep all night find themselves falling asleep several times the next day. Often these individuals will feel well rested when they wake up, and feel continuously tired during the day.
