Legal families: attempts to create groupings based on commonalities, help to understand what systems means and why we have them, they are not identical but similar. Civil law: central source of law is codifications in constitutions or statute passed by a legislation in order to amend a code. 2: restating the law of a jurisdiction in certain areas, usually by subject. Corpus juris civilis: extensions reform of roman civil law which took place in byzantine empire.
