Consensus theory: society and social relations within society are built upon a foundation of agreement among individuals and groups within society, all about an agreement among individuals. If you can survive a traumatic trial by ordeal, you are innocent and the accuser will be punished. Best way to arrive at the truth is a conflict: find out who is right and who is wrong or if someone is lying. Conflict management: process of limiting the negative aspects of conflict while increasing the positive aspects of conflict. Lose-lose orientation: type of conflict that tends to end negatively for everyone. Win-lose orientation: one party is victorious at the expense of another. Win-win orientation: comes close to optimal for everyone.
