Phishing, or ‘pharming’ is when an individual uses means of technology in addition to social
engineering with the goal being theft of others’ personal identity, Social Insurance Number’s,
passwords and finances. The most common phishing scam is sending a fraudulent email with a
link that will cause a breach of personal security. The facts of phishing include how the scammer
gets away with their fraudulent phishing scams. Tactics include; using existing companies names
in order to look real and selecting a vulnerable audience. Popular scams are: Banks requesting
more information, banks informing you of issues with your account and relatives needing
money.
