HLSC 1200U Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Flexor Pollicis Longus Muscle, Connective Tissue, Triceps Brachii Muscle
Document Summary
Endomysium delicate membrane covering each skeletal muscle fiber. Perimysium tough tissue covering fascicles (groups of skeletal muscle fibers) Fusion of 3 fibrous components can form tough layer or cord. Tendon: tough strong cord connecting bone to muscle. Tendon sheath: double walled tubes of fibrous connective tissue which cover some tendons. Aponeurosis: broad flat sheet which connects to two muscles. Fascia fibrous connective tissue surrounding muscle organ and found outside epimysium and tendon. Deep fascia found around individual muscle organs and bones. Individual muscle organs: each muscle organ can move independently of each other. Nerve: communicates with cns to control muscle movement. Artery: provides oxygen and other nutrients to the muscles. Vein: collects co2 and wastes for disposal. Commonly names according to size, shape and arrangement of muscle fibers. Size: from extremely small to large masses. Shape: eg broad narrow, long, tapering, short, blunt, triangular, quadrilateral, irregular flat sheets or bulky masses.
