Document Summary

Brain controls all our behaviors except for simple reflexes. Changes to genes, the brain, and or hormones often result in observable behavior differences. Involves the study of behavior with the use of the brain = because they control simple reflexes. Drugs can also affects brain biology cocaine users. Example: stroke, brain, tumor, alzheimer"s can impact the brain and create a noticeable behavior change in an individual, often think that someone with heart transplant is the same person . The nervous system is comprised of two major cells: neurons: cells that constantly receive, intgerate, and transmit information (i. e. permit communication) Soma (with nucleus), dendrites, axon, and myelin sheath. Communicate neuron to neuron; processing using many cells. Responsible for receiving signals from organs outside of n. s or send message from n. s to muscle of body; thoughts, memories, and control: glial cells: cells that support neurons (i. e. support communication) Provide nourishment to neurons, remove waste products, provide insulation around axons.
