Document Summary
Lecture #2: research methods january 19th, 2016. Make a reasonable guess based on our experiences, thoughts, and beliefs: common sense -> limitations, intuition -> ask a professional. Ask people: authority heuristic: believing a person"s opinion who is of authority or has knowledge in the area. Limitations can be wrong sometimes: limited to knowledge of others. Limitations not always right: existing information may not be valid or reliable. Limitations level of quality (results can impact results what they did and quality?) Conduct research: test it out for ourselves. The tendency to mold or interpret the past to fit how events turn out: the mind builds on current knowledge and is bias in favor of old information. After learning the outcome of an event, many people they could have predicted that very outcome . We tend to say i knew it all along when explaining events that objectively would have been difficult to foresee.
