Motivation and teams - chapter 14 and 15: understand strategies for enhancing motivation, assess how teams can make an organization more effective. Behaviour and stimulation that is driven by internal rewards or satisfaction. Reinforcement- modifying employee behaviour through the use of rewards and punishments (positive reinforcements) Management by objectives (mbo)- goal setting that extends from top to bottom of an organization. Participative management (empowerment)- increasing employee"s satisfaction by giving them a voice in how they do their jobs. Job design: process by which managers decide how to divide tasks. Jobs simplification: process of reducing number of jobs performed by an employee. Job enlargement: increases the number of tasks performed by an employee. Job enrichment: increases degree of responsibility over job. Nature of the task, can motivate the team. Resources, make it easier and motivating more positive environment. Storming-conflict over tasks and working as a team. Norming- cooperation and harmony gets stronger as roles are established.
