ANP 1105 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Keratin, Chromatin, Actin
Document Summary
Microfilaments have actin filaments that help with movement. Actin found in muscle cells associated with movement. Intermediate in thickness, found in skin (ex keratin), give strength to skin, they stabilize cell structure. All 3 help organelles move from point a to b in cells. Nucleus contains genetic information, allows to create protein, proteins give cell particular structure, they access different subsets for each function the cells have to complete, Something that needs to get into the nucleus can only go in if they have a signal to go in/out. Chromatin (can be up to 2 metres in length) = dna + associated proteins (histones and non histones, help to package proteins and genetic information) From nucleus to cytoplasm (mrna, ribosomes made in nucleolis, once ribosomes are made and go into cytoplasm, if they want to come back into the nucleus they wont get the signal) From cytoplasm to nucleus (ribosomal rna are used to regulate parts of nucleus.
