For short-term memory you can also call it working memory. You have information going through the loops and the loop will remain and there are able to hold information for a short period of time. Changes at the level of synapses and the networks is how we will remember things: Here they have recorded from a postsynaptic neuron that is activated by two presynaptic neurons that have converged onto a postsynaptic neuron. They will stimulate either one at the level of the axon. Before the test they will stimulate the first neuron and create an ap and it will travel down the terminal and cause postsynaptic ap. They stimulate at this point and we can see that there is a postsynaptic depolarization in the postsynaptic neuron.
