Document Summary

Adaptive radiation: a cluster of closely related species that are each adaptively specialized to a specific habitat or food source. Allele: one of two or more versions of a gene (one member of a pair) that is located at a specific position on a specific chromosome. Frequencies: measurement that determines how frequent the all ele expression of a particular gene arises in a population. The result should be in close correlation with the laws of natural selection, where more favourable alleles should become dominant in a species over time. Allopolyploidy: the genetic condition of having two or more complete sets of chromosomes from different parent species. Anagenesis: evolutionary change producing a single lineage in which one taxon replaces another without branching. Autopolypoloidy: the genetic condition of having more than two sets of chromosomes from the same parent species. Can arise from a spontaneous, naturally occurring genome doubling.
