Metabolic processes are guided by 8 elementary statements. Metabolism requires energy from light or from catabolism of nutrients. Precursor metabolites, energy from atp, and enzymes are used in anabolic reactions. Cells reproduce once they have doubled in size. Glycolysis is the best way to metabolize carbohydrates, since it can be used by anaeorbes and aerobes. Energy is lost in the system in the form of heat. Energy is released due to the breaking of bonds of macromolecules. Energy from the breakdown of macromolecules is stored into the high-energy bonds of atp. E. g. : breakdown of proteins, dna, rna, carbohydrates, lipids, etc. Energy is lost on the system in the form of heat, but less so than exergonic reactions. Energy is used and taken from the high-energy bonds of atp to produce adp, in order to provide energy to build up larger molecules.
