Cyber-Warfare/Cyber-Terrorism
• Disable infrastructure.
• Meddle with internal military data.
• Confuse financial transactions.
• Fear-inducing discourses?

Cyber Hate
• Promotion is widespread, cheap, and accessible. Effective way to get the message
out there. It allows people to remain slightly removed from what they are
promoting.
• Sophisticated tool for recruitment/unification.
• Unregulated.
• Vigilantism. Can be regarded as cyber-bullying.
• Cyber-bullying.
Invasion of Privacy/Defamation
• Makes pubic what is assumed to be private → information.
• Defamation of reputation via internet.
Identify Theft
• ‘Precursor’ to other offences. Increasingly, identify theft is being linked to
terrorism and human trafficking.
• Citizens reframed as consumers → combat crime through consumption. The
solutions and mechanisms that prevent this type of crime are offered up to us
through products, goods, and services.
• ‘Identify theft insurance’. Financial service providers will offer up insurance to
protect them from the consequences of having their identity stolen.
‘Saving Youth’ from Sexting
• Gendered approach → criminal aspects + child protection aspects.
• Ironically reinforces both girls’ status as sexualized objects and contributes to
their endangerment.
