Document Summary

Teacher talking to class: you"ve been told, but none of you really understand. None of you will live the life except that which has ben set for you: you will become adults for a brief while, and then you will begin to donate your organs. After your third or fourth donation your lives will end. You have to know who you are; it"s the only way you can lead decent lives. The clones live on an island and are there for when the original people need a donation. For the majority of people, life is better. You do what will bring about the best overall consequences (consequentialism) You do what is right, regardless of the consequences. We want the good, whatever that good is, and we want to avoid the bad. We want happiness - the goal in life is to do that thing that brings about happiness. You do what you believe will make you happy.
