Ww2: occupation by japanese: nationalists were seen to have colluded with japanese and let them occupy. China and therefore lost favour and communists won. Mao zedo(cid:374)g a(cid:374)d people"s li(cid:271)eratio(cid:374) army defeat nationalists and took over country. Internal struggles within chinese communist party between red faction (mao) and. Expert faction (deng xiaoping: after mao"s death, expert fa(cid:272)tio(cid:374) do(cid:373)i(cid:374)ate. Results: tenfold increase in gdp since 1978, largest exporter as of 2006. Challenges: more university graduates not enough jobs, people in the cities get riches, in the country get poorer, people move to cities to find work overpopulation in cities, corruption. Created one of the worst gender imbalances in the world.
