Document Summary
Big research issues (at least according to myers) In some number, in some space, at some time. Love, hate, liberty, free will, the mind , consciousness-unconsciousness. Why: men are more violent than women, theory: literature search and a summary/synthesis of what is already known. A theory makes a testable question called a hypothesis. Hypotheses make hypothetical predictions: definition of variables of interest. Quantification = more or less: design the study, run the study, analyze the results. A change in one variable is also associated with change in another. Note: this does not mean that change in one variable causes change in the other. Correlation a statistical measure of the extent of a relationship between two variables. The correlation allows one to predict scores on one variable if the scores on another variable are known. The larger the correlation, the stronger the association. (ability to predict). If there is no relationship, the correlation is 0. 0.
