Document Summary
Advantage: provides high resolution images of the human brain. Provides an image of the structures but does not indicate their functions. Resolution is limited, thus you cannot see single cells. It is also very expensive, and does not provide an image of the active brain. Changing the electrical potential/activity of the brain when a stimulus is applied. Electrical activity from the scalp provides a poor indication of the actual readings. In a diagram you can observe which areas of the brain is active. Red colouration infers that the coloured area is currently highly active. Invasive: requires deoxy-glucose to be injected in the blood. The process is very slow because blood circulates slowly. Pet provides an image of all the brain areas that were active within 1-2 minutes. It indicates which areas are active for a task to be completed (requires oxygen)
