For theory to be scienti c, must have three criteria: Falsi able/refutable (must be able to be proved wrong) Hypothesis > prediction based on theory about a speci c outcome in form of a statement. Scienti c theories in sexuality are sets of tested and generally agreed upon conclusions or explanations about certain phenomena. Testing will show if this prediction is correct or needs to be revised. Sigmund freud (1856-1939) was rst to present a theory to explain human psychosexual development. However his theories weren"t true scienti c theories. Based on anecdotal evidence rather than empirical. Not able to draw hypothesis from him. Psychic energy associated with desires and drives.
