This debate was at the heart of social science. Many definitions for both words - it does get confusing fast. Culture: ways of being and knowing the world as human beings - it integrates values, rituals and belief that is being transmitted through socialization. Inner nature: health and illness - consequence on human body as organism. Outer nature: the environment at large - water, air, land. During the enlightenment period, we started to see mother earth as a commodity. The raise of capitalist made human blind to the impact they were having on the environment and themselves. Metabolic rift: too far to see and to care. Enlightment period, what we can modernity or what society is as we know it.
