Document Summary

Vascular cylinder: solid core of primary xylem with ridges, primary phloem located in between ridges. **the endodermis and pericycle are unique to roots, not found in shoots*** ***the ground meristems makes the pith is shoots while in monocot roots the procambium makes the pith*** Eudicot vs. monocot roots: difference between them is the arrangement of vascular cylinder, monocots: pith in the middle of vascular cylinder is made from the procambium npt the ground meristems. Secondary growth: occurs from lateral meristems, lateral meristems cause secondary growth. Two kind of lateral meristems: vascular cambium which form secondary xylem and phloem, cork cambium part of periderm and forms other cells of periderm. How does the intrafascicular cambium form: the ground tissue between the vascular bundles, usually parenchyma tissue, starts to differentiate. Difference between primary and secondary xylem is the type of meristematic tissue that created it, primary xylem is made from procambium and secondary xylem is created by vascular cambium.
