Document Summary

Tutorial - peer review - anonymous in real practice but not in this course. Bring results and discussion for ta to mark. How can we make areas more useful for agriculture. To increase the biomass of particular area e. g. grassland for grazing for cattle, wild animals etc. without using fertilizers. We can reduce competition for grass species. e. g. water - plants who have longer roots. We can reduce competition for grass species. e. g. water - plants who have longer roots e. g. use of light. Larger plants, and more of them e. g. use plants from the same family and compete similarly: less biomass. Dr. m. cadotte - plants that compete the same way in one area e. g. long roots. In another plot he plants different families . Different traits allow them to use limited resource in different ways. Comparison with old field vs current habitats we explore. Old field vs disturbed - old field is more open.
