Document Summary

Male is sperm by spermatogenesis, female is egg by oogenesis. Meiosis also occurs in plants has 2 stages of haploid and diploid. Meiosis leads to variation in genome across generation. Meiosis also contains the same phases as mitosis: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase. They then line up and form zipper like structure and homologs. Mid prophase, there is a synapse set, its called bivalent or tetrad. It is the most powerful mechanism in meiosis that generates variation. After this process in females, the process occurs rapidly but it could be delayed.
